Sony's new FE 24-105mm F4 G OSS Lens ensures razor-sharp images throughout the zoom range while producing pleasing "bokeh" or background blur at all focal lengths.
It owes this high image quality to its sophisticated optical design with four aspherical lens elements, two of which are precision AA (Advanced Aspherical) lens elements. It also incorporates three ED (Extra-low Dispersion) glass elements, which together with the aforementioned aspherical lens elements ensure that chromatic aberrations are minimized and photos or videos can be taken with extremely high resolution.
The lens also features Sony's special nano-coating to minimize ghosting and light reflection, and has a circular aperture to ensure the high-quality bokeh characteristic of G Series lenses.
Compact, lightweight design and shooting flexibility
The new FE 24-105mm F4 G OSS Lens weighs only about 663 grams, making it the lightest lens in its class[i].
Combined with one of Sony's compact E-mount bodies, it represents by far a more mobile and easier-to-use camera system for photographers, significantly increasing their shooting flexibility.
Not only is the new Lens compact and highly versatile with its focal length range of 24 to 105mm, it is also suitable for impressive close-ups thanks to its minimum focus distance of just 38 centimeters. Optical image stabilization is also built in, making it easier to take sharp, blur-free handheld shots.
State-of-the-art and precise autofocus
To keep fast-moving subjects in focus, the new standard zoom lens is equipped with a DDSSM (Direct Drive SSM) system that can position the lenses of the lens extremely precisely and quietly.
