Im Profibereich hat sich Sony eigens nach den Bedürfnissen der Anwender erkundigt. So wurde die PXW-Serie von Sony nach einer Reihe von Gesprächen mit Dokumentarfilmern neu konzipiert. So ist eine bequeme Schulterkamera auf diese Weise entstanden. Sie sitzt gut auf Brust oder Schulter und ist neben den E-Mount- und A-Mount-Objektiven zudem mit Film- und SLR-Objektiven unter Zuhilfenahme eines Adapters kompatibel. Zudem verfügt sie über OSS (eine Optical SteadyShot-Bildstabilisierung), einen motorisierten Zoom und bringt als Gewicht leichte 2 Kilogramm auf die Waage. Die Kompatibilität verdankt sich dem Sony α-Mount-Objektivsystem, das den Wechsel mit Objektiven von Sony und weiteren Herstellern ermöglicht.
Für Nachrichten oder Reportage geeignet sind die Modelle der PXW geeignet, teil als 4K-fähige Kompaktcamcorder mit vollem Funktionsumfang für ein breites Anwendungsspektrum. Diese Geräte genügen bei einem unvergleichlichen Qualitätsniveau höchsten Ansprüchen.
Für berufliche wie private Anlässe (Hochzeiten, Schulungen, Firmenevents) empfehlen sich Camcoder der HXR-Serie, teil noch einmal 30 Prozent kompakter und handlicher als einige der Vorgängermodelle.
Kleine Camcorder – ganz groß
Für die kleinen und handlichen Camcorder gilt ebenfalls: Digitalkameras wandeln das auf dem Sensor eintreffende Licht in ein digitales Foto um. Sony hat dafür den BIONZ X Prozessor entwickelt. Die Cams der FDR-Reihe mit 4K Ultra HD-Aufnahmefunktion besitzen herausragende ZEISS-Objektive und sind als Camcorder fürs Handgepäck geeignet, ähnlich die kompakten Handycams wie die der HDR-Reihe, beispielsweise mit einem 29,8 Millimeter Weitwinkelobjektiv von ZEISS.
