Objektivköcher und -koffer dienen hauptsächlich der geschützten Aufbewahrung sowie dem sicheren Transport von Objektiven. Die mit hochwertigen Objektivgläsern ausgestatteten optischen Systeme bedürfen einer gepolsterten Aufbewahrung, damit sie keinen Schaden nehmen.
Objektivbeutel sind meist mit dicken Schaumpolstern bestückt und verfügen zusätzlich über einen Kordelzug mit Schnellverschlussclip zum Fixieren. Eine Gürtelschlaufe und ein Karabinerhaken ermöglichen das einfache Befestigen an einer Hose oder an einer anderen Tasche. Nicht nur Objektive finden in den kleinen Taschen Platz, sondern auch sämtliches kleines Zubehör, das auf die Fotosafari mitgenommen werden soll. Die Köcher gibt es in verschiedenen Größen sowie von verschiedenen Herstellern, sodass ein passendes Maß für jede Art von Objektiv gewährleistet ist. Außerdem werden sie aus unterschiedlichen Materialien produziert, beispielsweise sind Neoprenbeutel staub- und wasserabweisend. Ebenfalls zum Schutz von Objektiven dienen kleine Koffer, sogenannte Hardcases, die das wertvolle Kamerazubehör besonders gut vor Fremdeinwirkungen schützen.
