Das traditionsreiche Unternehmen Voigtländer wurde bereits im Jahr 1756 gegründet. Seit 1839 stellt das Unternehmen Objektive her. Voigtländer Objektive überzeugen durch ihre hohe optische Qualität, die sehr gute Abbildungsleistung und die hervorragende Verarbeitung und Haptik. Alle Objektive werden mit manuellem Fokus und Festbrennweite gefertigt und besitzen somit einen ganz besonderen Retro-Charme. Durch den gezielten Verzicht auf viele Extras konzentriert sich der Hersteller auf die Präzision der Optik. Die Produktpalette reicht vom extremen Weitwinkel für Landschafts- und Architekturaufnahmen bis zur Porträtbrennweite.
Für den Einsatz an verschiedenen Kamerasystemen sorgen die vier Baureihen E-Anschluss, VM, SL und MFT. Der E-Anschluss wurde speziell für Sony Kameras mit dem E-Bajonett konzipiert. Die VM-Baureihe ist für den Einsatz an den klassischen Messsucherkameras der Marken Voigtländer und Leica entwickelt worden, lassen sich aber ohne Qualitätsverlust mithilfe von Adaptern an moderne Spiegelreflexkameras anschließen. Die SL-Objektive sind so abgestimmt, dass sie den Anforderungen der digitalen Fotografie mehr als gerecht werden. Eine eingebaute Elektronik sorgt für eine fehlerfreie Kommunikation mit der Kamera. Für den Einsatz an Kameras der Marken Panasonic und Olympus wurde die MFT-Baureihe mit dem Micro Four Thirds Anschluss ins Leben gerufen. Hierbei gilt ein besonderes Augenmerk der erstaunlichen Lichtstärke von 0,95.
