HD PENTAX-FA 77mmF1.8 Limited
The HD PENTAX FA-Limited series - for perfection in the tradition of SLR photography. Based on the long experience with the PENTAX Limited Edition lenses, the original PENTAX HD coating of the new series offers a significant minimization of light reflections and ghost images, for image results that cannot be expressed in mathematical test results alone, but rather measured in emotions.

The HD PENTAX-FA 77mmF1.8 Limited Lens with moderate telephoto focal length is perfect for portrait photography. Thanks to the optimal correction of chromatic aberrations, it is able to precisely reproduce even the finest details, such as hair.
The high speed of F1.8 offers opportunities for cropping and when stopped down to F4 it offers a delicate bokeh effect that is well suited to portrait photography.

HD PENTAX-FA 77mm F1.8 Limited
The special expressive power, as well as the ability to work with fixed focal lengths, makes this lens particularly attractive to enthusiasts of the Pentax system.
When PENTAX introduced the "Limited Series" around 25 years ago, they were designed in the traditional form of SLR technology. The first thing that caught the eye was the focal length designations. A wide-angle lens with 31 mm, a standard lens with 43 mm and a portrait lens with 77 mm formed a series with great honesty in the imaging and also in the technical construction. Special details make these Lens special masterpieces. The original character has stood the test of time and is once again a basic component of the new HD PENTAX-FA Limited series.

The elaborate manufacturing process makes each of these Lens a masterpiece, and was already a reason for many photographers to choose this system in the days of analog photography. A camera and three fixed focal lengths are a set-up that even today stands for a special approach to digital photography in 35 mm format, and for a great passion for traditional photography.

PENTAX has decided to remain true to the philosophy that has set the standard for many new techniques since the beginning of camera production in Japan, and is still the standard in modern photographic technology today. And so we also find focal length specifications in the new series that correspond to the technical calculation and are not rounded to fit better into a scheme.

Also rather unusual today is the mechanical aperture selection directly on the lens, with the matching depth of field scale above the aperture rings.

A small but fine detail are the markings on the aluminum housings of the lenses, which make it possible to change the lens without looking.

The lens with a moderate telephoto focal length is perfect for portrait shots. Thanks to the optimum correction of chromatic aberrations, it is able to precisely reproduce even the finest details, such as hair. The large aperture of F1.8 offers opportunities for cropping and when stopped down to F4 it offers a delicate bokeh effect that is well suited to portrait photography.

Other product features:
Another special feature, new and name-giving for the series, is the refinement of the lenses used. The lens elements of these lenses are coated with the multi-layer HD (High Definition) coating developed by PENTAX.
Compared to conventional coatings, it offers significantly higher light transmission with low reflection (up to 50 % compared to conventional coatings). This enables maximum contrast and sharpness without stray light and ghost images, even under difficult conditions such as backlighting.
This is made possible by an exclusive PENTAX special manufacturing process in which a high-density coating is applied with high precision at nanometer level. It also has an extremely high hardness for superior durability.

In addition, the front lenses are provided with the original PENTAX SP (Super Protect) coating. A fluorine coating protects the lens surface and has a repellent and oil-refining effect that not only repels dust, water and grease, but also makes it easier to wipe these substances off the lens surface. It is also highly resistant to abrasion and scratches and helps to keep the lens in top condition.

With the new HD PENTAX FA-Limited series, PENTAX follows its basic principles and stands for excellent image reproduction with high detail fidelity with sharp and clear image reproduction, free of flare and ghosting.

The lenses are supplied with a built-in or corresponding screw-in lens hood and an exclusive lens cap, also made of aluminum, as well as a lens bag. They are available in silver (serial numbers starting with 00001) and black (serial numbers starting with 10001).
