LENSES EXCLUSIVELY FOR DIGITAL CAMERAS

Lenses of the PENTAX smc DA* series feature a number of special equipment details. For example, these Lenses are protected against the effects of weather, such as rain or dust, by the use of special seals.

PENTAX uses special fluoride compounds for coating the front lenses - the unique SP (Super Protect) technology. Here the front lens is coated with a special coating. This nano technology ensures that, for example, fingerprints or greasy residues can be removed quickly and easily if necessary.
Another very important detail is described by the suffix "SDM". This means that these Lenses have a fast and very quiet autofocus drive based on ultrasonic technology*.

Another important feature is the Quick Shift Focus System. It allows the photographer to change the focus as desired after automatic focusing. This means that direct manual fine focus correction is possible at any time without switching off the autofocus.

The smc DA* 55 / 1.4 SDM is a very special lens, and not just because of its high speed. With a focal length of 80 mm (equiv. to 35 mm), it is the classic portrait lens. This is supported by equipment details, which one looks for in vain with many Lenses of this kind. For example, the depth of field range at open aperture is so small that it is possible to play perfectly with sharpness and blur.
Special rounded aperture blades ensure that these blurs produce a particularly harmonious bokeh.

Particularly high quality is achieved by a new special "Aero Bright Coating". This greatly reduces reflections and image errors.
The coating is supported by a newly designed lens hood that contributes to quality optimization.

The smc DA* 55 mm / 1.4 SDM is equipped with the KAF3 bayonet and works exclusively with corresponding cameras.
