THE TELESCOPE FOR THE YEAR OF ASTRONOMY
To mark the 400th anniversary of the first observation of the sky with a telescope in 1609, many companies are offering so-called "Galileo telescopes". As a rule, these are small telescopes that are as cheap as possible and are intended to be widely distributed so that as many people as possible become interested in astronomy.

With the FIRSTSCOPE 76, Celestron is taking a more serious approach than the countless, hopelessly shaky, far too cheap 50 mm refractors with plastic or cardboard tubes. The Celestron FirstScope 76 is a compact, easily transportable and yet stable Newtonian telescope with 76 mm (3 inch) aperture, 300 mm focal length and a metal tube on a rock-solid Dobsonian table mount. Even in the basic configuration, the device has two eyepieces with 20 mm (=15x) and 4 mm (=75x magnification). The device shows an amazing amount of detail on the moon and planets - the optics of this 3 inch mini Dobsonian are really good! It also shows the brighter deep sky objects and provides a real introduction to astronomy! Everyone who saw it wanted to have one - or put one on their desk for immediate use - such is our experience with the prototypes we presented to journalists, professional astronomers, public observatories and customers at the beginning of 2009 to test the reactions. There is even an accessory pack with a carrying case, two additional eyepieces and a finder scope available as an extension pack.

The FirstScope comes with a detailed German instruction manual containing observation tips and a small moon atlas
